How to Eat More Without Overeating (Yes, Really)

Hey Reader,

Here’s something that surprises a lot of my coaching clients: You might not be eating enough — and that’s part of the problem!

If you’re trying to lose fat or just eat healthier, the goal is usually to eat less. But here’s the problem: eating less doesn’t always mean eating better. Let me explain:

Undereating leads to overeating

When you’re constantly grazing on snacks or skipping meals, it’s easy to feel “in control” during the day…Then suddenly you’re starving at night, eating double portions in one sitting or endless amounts of dessert. I see this all the time with my clients. And the truth is, this not a willpower issue. It’s rather your body (and mind) that has been deprived of food and nutrients for the entire day.

Here’s how to eat more strategically — to reach your goals without going overboard:

  • Build full meals, not snacky bits. Start with protein, carbs, veggies, and fats. Consuming meals that satisfy you throughout the day help reduce the need to overeat later on.
  • Don’t skip meals to “save calories”. It almost always backfires. You end up eating more later, but with less satisfaction and control.
  • Add volume with low-calorie, high-nutrient foods.Things like veggies, fruits, nonfat Greek yogurt, or lean proteins give you more food and nutrients for fewer calories — and they actually keep you full.
  • Make it satisfying.Yes, taste matters. If your meals are boring or bland, you’ll be thinking about food all day long. The key is adding flavor, texture, and variety — even if it's a simple salad.

Bottom line: Eating more isn’t the problem. It’s what you eat and how you build your meals that makes the difference.
